The Dayton Dragons season came to an end Monday night at Fifth Third Field, with a 3-0 lost to the Fort Wayne Tincaps. Fort Wayne moves on to the Midwest League Championship against the Quad City River Bandits starting Wednesday night.
The Dragons were held to just three hits the entire night. All singles. Cassidy Brown, Bruce Yari and Jose Siri had the hits for the Dragons.
Four pitchers combined to hold the Dragons to just the three hits and the struck out 12 Dayton batters
Third baseman Hudson Potts got Fort Wayne on the board with a solo shot to left field. 1-0 Tincaps.
Catcher Marcus Greene led off the second inning with a base on balls and went to second on an error by second basemen John Sansone. One batter later Jorge Ona laced a single that scored Greene from second base.
The Buddy Reed put an end to the scoring with a single that scored Ona.
Dayton’s only threat came in the bottom of the first. With one out and Randy Ventura at third and Taylor Trammell at first, Trammell tried to steal second and was thrown out. Then Ventura then tried to score from third and he was out by a couple of feet and the threat was over with an inning ending double play.
Dayton will start next season at home on April 7th.
