Sinclair men open with a home win 84-64
Dayton, Ohio – Sinclair (1-0/0-0) opened the 2018-19 season against Miami University – Middletown (0-3/0-0) at home with a 84-64 victory in building 8 arena.
Sinclair is now 12-1 in the last 13 season openers and have won 4 in a row against the Thunderhawks. Even though the final score would indicate an easy 20 point margin, Sinclair had to overcome a poor shooting night at 37.7%.
Sean McNeil (6-04/FR – Cooper H.S. KY) lead all scorers with a Sinclair opening night record as he was the first player to score 40 in their first collegiate contest and the first player to knock down six 3’s.
Sinclair was able to battle through poor shooting to take a 43-29 lead into half time after some first half jitters and sloppy play.
The second half remained the same as lid stayed on the basket for both teams. Sinclair was able to cut back on the turnover and knock down 17 of 18 free throws to seal the game.
Sinclair will travel to Detroit on Saturday to take on Henry Ford in a Region XII game.
