WILMINGTON, Ohio – Senior goalkeeper Ashley (A.J.) Johnson made 18 saves in the contest, but the Wilmington offense was too much to overcome as the Earlham College womens’ soccer team fell 5-0 in its first road game of the 2015 season on Wednesday.
Wilmington (3-3) broke the scoreless deadlock 6:34 into the game when Ashley Stockton found the back of the net. Taylor Leake would add a second goal in the 41st minute to give Wilmington a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
The Quakers from Ohio would add three goals in the final 18 minutes to seal the victory.
Johnson took the loss despite making 18 saves in the game. Juniors Cherrah Barclay and Kelly Mayhew both fired shots on net in the game.
Earlham dips to 1-3 on the season with the loss. The Quakers continue their road trip on Saturday with a 2 p.m. game at Heidelberg.
