Tonight, high school football emanates live from Patriot Stadium in Riverside, Ohio as the Carroll Patriots (2-0) host the Springfield Shawnee Braves (0-2) on Radio 3.
Carroll in coming into this game on fire, having defeated Beavercreek 28-18 last week. Marcus LaJeunesse and Patrick Shiner led the offense for the Patriots, running for 66 and 58 yards respectively, while accounting for all 4 of Carroll’s touchdowns. Patrick Hemmert led the defensive charge for the Patirots, contributing to 13 tackles, while Daniel Sommers pulled down 2 interceptions in Carroll’s victory.
Shawnee comes to Patriot Stadium looking to rebound after falling to the Springfield Wildcats 34-21 last Friday. Quarterback Alec Bennett threw 14 for 22 for 228 yards, but also threw 4 interceptions. David Barnett caught 5 of those passes for 85 yards. Zach Avery led the Braves’ running attack, rushing for 182 yards on 20 carries, scoring 2 touchdowns in the process. Wade Smiddy was Shawnee’s defensive MVP, accounting for 11 tackles, while Michale Guyer had one interception.
