Dayton, Ohio -“ The Sinclair Men’€s Basketball traveled across the border to Richmond, Indiana to take on NAIA power Indiana University-East last night in the season’€™s first scrimmage.

Even though the 88-84 victory on the scoreboard indicated a success, a number of items need work for the upcoming season. The Pride shot the ball well for the first time against live action, 49.2% from the field and 69.2% from the free throw line. Sinclair had 8 different players attempt at least one three point shot with the team shooting 33.3%.

A group of sophomores lead the way as DeAngalo Gates (6-2/Dayton, OH) had 14 points, Akiean Frederick (6-8/Columbus, OH) 14 points and 9 rebounds, Marcellous Washington (6-1/Lexington, KY) 13 points and Reshardd Harris (6-4/Detroit, MI) 13 points.

BROOKLYN – With three starters returning from last year’s 27-9 team that advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament, the University of Dayton Flyers have been selected as the team to beat in the Atlantic 10 this season, according to a poll of the conference’s head men’s basketball coaches and selected media.  The news was released Tuesday during the A-10’s Men’s Basketball Media Day.

 

The Flyers received 12 of the 27 first-place votes cast.  Second-place Rhode Island had eight first-place votes, third–place Davidson received six and fourth-place George Washington had one.  In total voting points, Dayton had 352 votes to Rhode Island’s 347.
