Pietrzak and Roetgerman named OCCAC Sportsmanship of the Year
Dayton, OH – The Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) has awarded five individuals the Sportsmanship of the Year award in their respective sports and an All-Sportsmanship conference team as part of the conference’s inaugural Sportsmanship honors.

Fort Wayne, Ind.—Dayton starting pitcher Scott Moss combined with relievers Aaron Fossas and Ryan Hendrix on a two-hitter as the Dragons defeated the Fort Wayne TinCaps 4-1on Friday. The Dayton win coupled with losses on Friday by both South Bend and Lansing allowed the Dragons to clinch the wildcard berth in the Midwest League East Division.
WILBERFORCE, Ohio – The search for the next volleyball coach at Central State University is over, as the school’s athletic department announced it has hired Danielle Benson-Robinson to fill the position.
“The Marauder athletic department is proud to welcome Danielle Benson-Robinson,” CSU Vice President of Athletics and Institutional Advancement Jahan Culbreath said. “Coach Benson-Robinson brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the volleyball program. Her focus on student welfare, discipline, coaching philosophy and values makes her the perfect fit to lead our volleyball team.”

Grand Rapids, Mich.—Dayton starting pitcher Tony Santillan and relievers Andy Cox and Ryan Hendrix combined to scatter nine hits as the Dragons defeated the West Michigan Whitecaps 4-3 on Fridaynight. With the victory, the Dragons not only pulled to within two games of the first place Whitecaps, but they also gained a game on the South Bend Cubs. The Dragons (37-23) took a one game lead on the Cubs for the wildcard slot in the Midwest League East Division with 10 games to play in the first half. The top two teams in the East Division first half standings will earn playoff spots.
COLUMBUS, OH – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed goaltender Joonas Korpisalo to a two-year contract extension through the 2018-19 National Hockey League season, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.
