Dayton, Ohio – Today after practice the Men’s Basketball team put in a little prep work for their trip to Washington, not on their first opponent the Naval Academy but for a visit to the Tomb of the Unknown.  Officer Tommy Schloss of the Dayton Police Department served as a Relief Commander at the Tomb for 18 months and spoke with the team about being a member of U.S. Army “The Old Guard” and the honor of walking the post.

Sinclair will play the U.S. Naval Academy Developmental team on Sunday November 1st in the first game of the 2015-16 season.  While in DC, the team plans to visit Arlington National Cemetery and watch the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Solider.  Other activities planned while in Washington include; a tour of the White House, Capitol, Supreme Court, Lincoln Memorial, Martin L. King Memorial, Vietnam & Korean War Memorials, WWII Memorial and a special visit to Walter Reed Hospital to visit some of our Wounded Warriors coming back from overseas.

In little over a week, the team will be standing in front of the Tomb.  Thanks to Officer Schloss, they will have a better understanding of the 21 steps and 21 seconds as well as the attention to every detail surrounding the Tomb and ceremony.
