Mireles named Buckeye Charters Athlete of Distinction for September

Dayton, OH -€“ The Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Sophomore Melissa Mireles has received the Buckeye Charters Student-Athlete of Distinction Award for the month of September.

Each month the Athletic Department in conjunction with Buckeye Charters, will select a Student-Athlete that has been a leader in all three categories; Community Service, Classroom and Competition,€“ also known as the 3 C’€™s.

This month we would like to honor Sophomore Melissa Mireles of the Volleyball team.  Melissa has been active with the team this fall in the community and continues to lead the way in the Classroom.  She was Academic All-Conference last season and was a member of the 2014-15 Sinclair Volleyball team that earned a prestigious team honor of NJCAA All-Academic Team for an overall team GPA of over 3.0 for the year. Melissa has also been a leader on the court helping the Pride to a 14-9 record to date.

Special thanks go out to Buckeye Charters for helping establish this monthly award that honors those student-athletes that are great in the three C’€™s.  Buckeye Charters have been providing quality and reliable transportation for student-athletes around the region as well as many other groups for over 22 years.  They have proven over the many years of partnership with the athletic department that they also value the commitment to high standards, and this is why we are pleased to name this monthly award: The Buckeye Charters Student-Athlete of Distinction
