Urbana (1-2, 1-2 MEC) fell short, 23-7, against No. 21 Concord (2-1, 2-1 MEC) on a soggy Saturday afternoon at UU Stadium. The Blue Knights outscored the Mountain Lions 7-6 in the second half, but 17 unanswered Concord points in the first stanza proved too much to overcome for UU.

WILMINGTON, Ohio – Senior goalkeeper Ashley (A.J.) Johnson made 18 saves in the contest, but the Wilmington offense was too much to overcome as the Earlham College womens’ soccer team fell 5-0 in its first road game of the 2015 season on Wednesday.

Wilmington (3-3) broke the scoreless deadlock 6:34 into the game when Ashley Stockton found the back of the net. Taylor Leake would add a second goal in the 41st minute to give Wilmington a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

The Quakers from Ohio would add three goals in the final 18 minutes to seal the victory.

Johnson took the loss despite making 18 saves in the game. Juniors Cherrah Barclay and Kelly Mayhew both fired shots on net in the game.

Earlham dips to 1-3 on the season with the loss. The Quakers continue their road trip on Saturday with a 2 p.m. game at Heidelberg.

RICHMOND, Ind. – Sophomore Kayla Morris tallied 17 kills in three sets, but the Ladies of Kenyon College hit .227 as a team en route a 25-22, 25-13, 25-20 victory over the Earlham College volleyball team on Schuckman Court on Wednesday.

Earlham forced a Kenyon timeout in the first set when freshman setter Abigail Sheehan served up an ace to give the Quakers a 10-9 lead. Earlham would go up 18-16 later in the set on a kill from freshman Denisha Mataia. Kenyon (6-3) would win seven of the next 11 points, however, to take the first set 25-21.

After a set two loss, the Quakers fell behind 22-14 in set three. Earlham showed fight, however, as the Quakers got within four points on two occasions. A kill from Kenyon’s Grace Riley on match point would give the Lords the victory.

Morris hit at a .250 clip with 17 kills and six errors on 44 swings. Freshman Ashleigh Burton finished with seven kills on 19 attack attempts and five errors.

Sheehan dished out 28 assists in the match averaging nearly ten assists per set. Freshman Megan Hedinger added 12 digs as libero for the first two sets. The Germantown, Wis., native moved to outside hitter for set three and added four kills in the set.

Delaney Swanson was the lone Lady to finish in double figures in kills with 11. Jensen Shurbert finished with 29 assists and two service aces.

Earlham dips to 1-9 on the season and returns to action this weekend at the Illinois College Invite. The Quakers will face Concordia-Chicago for a second time as well as Monmouth on Friday followed by Olivet for a second time and Robert Morris Springfield on Saturday.
