UD Arena Doors Will Open at 9:30 a.m., Game Tips at 11 a.m.

Dayton, Ohio – The University of Dayton women’s basketball team will be hosting area elementary and middle school students for the program’s annual School; Day during it’s season opener on Friday November 13th against the Yale Bulldogs.  Tip-off is set for 11 a.m.

Each year Dayton women’s basketball hosts area school children to participate in an educational, math-related field trip. There are still openings available and the team would love for your students to take part in this fun and enlightening experience for FREE!

The field trip has an educational emphasis on math. Each student receives a packet of activities geared toward their grade level to complete a week before  the game.  All participating students and faculty will receive free admission and will also be allowed to bring a sack lunch to enjoy while watching the game. Concession stands will also be available at regular game day prices.

Season Begins Sept. 4-5 at Hall of Fame Challenge

Bridgeport, W.Va. (August 25, 2015) – The Urbana University volleyball team has been picked to finish fourth in the 2015 Mountain East Conference Preseason Poll, as voted by the leagues 12 head coaches.

The Blue Knights are led by first year head coach Tim Balice, who took over the program in June. Balice inherited a solid roster, which features 13 returners, including sophomore outside hitter Katlynn Dunlap. Dunlap ranked second in the MEC in kills-per-set in 2014 and was tabbed the leagues freshman of the year.

Urbana opens up the season on September 4-5 at the Hall of Fame City Challenge, hosted by Malone in Canton Ohio. The home opener will be on Tuesday September 8th when they host Ursuline College at 7 pm in the Grimes Center

The Sinclair athletic department took time away from all the activities associated with the first day of classes to fulfill a civic responsibility, registering to vote. Monday was the first day of class for all 5 athletic teams met with Beverly King Supervisor of Registration for the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

Mrs. King spoke about the importance of the Presidential cycle, but she also emphasized how critical it is for citizens to vote in all elections  not just the big ones. Pointing out that every vote is needed during the local elections as those are sometimes the issues that have greater impact on our community, such as County Commissioners,   Mayoral and even school bond issues.

At the end of the meeting 53 Sinclair student-athletes had filled out voter registration forms for all Ohio counties including several players submitting forms for Indiana, Michigan and Kentucky.

Newport News, Va.

The University of Dayton volleyball team has been chosen to repeat as the Atlantic 10 Conference Champions in the leagues annual preseason poll announced today ahead of the start of the 2015 season. The poll was conducted by the conference’s 10 head volleyball coaches.

UD received 8 first place votes and tallied 88 points in the poll, putting the Flyers ahead of second-place George Washington. The Colonials registered two first place votes and had 79 points in the poll.

Dayton will open the season by competing in the Cyclone Invitational this weekend at Iowa State University. They will be squaring off against North Dakota, Marquette and host Iowa State.
