DAYTON WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS 2-1 AT LA SALLE

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Dayton women’s soccer team (5-9-0, 3-2-0 A-10) lost its second consecutive Atlantic 10 Conference road match, a 2-1 setback, to La Salle (6-6-2, 3-2-0 A-10) Thursday night at McCarthy Stadium.

STATS OF THE MATCH
Freshman goalkeeper Kaelyn Johns saved a La Salle PK in the 40th minute and just seconds later freshman Beth Kamphaus scored the lone goal for the Flyers.
For the second consecutive match, the Flyers fell behind early as the Explorers scored two goals in the first 21 minutes of the match.
The Explorers outshot Dayton 17-12, including 7-4 on goal.

14th minute – Marykate Bateman chipped a pass to herself over Johns and then shot low rights side after from Clarissa Kirch-Downs passed to her. (La Salle 1, Dayton 0)
22nd minute – Chrissy Vollrath scored on a cornerkick taken by Jessica Kagan. Deja Davis headed it to Vollrath who finished top shelf from the top of the box. (La Salle 2, Dayton 0)

The Flyers host Fordham this Sunday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. at Baujan Field.

DAYTON, Ohio – Currently enjoying an 11-match winning streak, Dayton volleyball has posted a straight-set sweep in four of its last five and six of its last eight matches. On Friday, Dayton will square off against Davidson for a 7 p.m. match at Frericks Center.

The Flyers (13-5, 6-0) are seeking their third perfect Atlantic 10 season in the last six years and the program’s 12th A-10 regular season title. Offensively, the team is led by senior Alaina Turner with 4.48 kills/set (1st A-10, 13th NCAA) and 0.45 aces/set (4th A-10, 31st NCAA) while sophomore Jane Emmenecker sets 11.22 assists/set (1st A-10, 24th NCAA). On the defensive side, sophomore Amber Erhahon records 1.23 blocks/set (2nd A-10) and senior Janna Krafka passes 3.91 digs/set (4th A-10).

Mireles named Buckeye Charters Athlete of Distinction for September

Dayton, OH -€“ The Athletic Department is pleased to announce that Sophomore Melissa Mireles has received the Buckeye Charters Student-Athlete of Distinction Award for the month of September.

Each month the Athletic Department in conjunction with Buckeye Charters, will select a Student-Athlete that has been a leader in all three categories; Community Service, Classroom and Competition,€“ also known as the 3 C’€™s.

This month we would like to honor Sophomore Melissa Mireles of the Volleyball team.  Melissa has been active with the team this fall in the community and continues to lead the way in the Classroom.  She was Academic All-Conference last season and was a member of the 2014-15 Sinclair Volleyball team that earned a prestigious team honor of NJCAA All-Academic Team for an overall team GPA of over 3.0 for the year. Melissa has also been a leader on the court helping the Pride to a 14-9 record to date.

HANOVER, Ind. – The Earlham College volleyball team fell to Hanover College 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-14) on the road in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) action on Wednesday.

Freshman setter Abigail Sheehan dished out 16 assists in the loss. Sophomore Kayla Morris finished with seven kills and three digs while freshman Ashleigh Burton tallied five kills, two service aces, and one block.

Freshman Megan Hedinger turned in the most efficient offensive performance, finishing with six kills and two errors on 13 swings for a .308 attack percentage. Freshmen Jessica Dammeyer and Denisa Mataia tallied eight digs apiece.

The Quakers return home for two HCAC contests this weekend – Anderson on Friday at 7 p.m. and Rose-Hulman on Sunday at 1 p.m.
